Timeless Wisdom

Christiane Northrup, Medical Doctor and Author of “Mother-Daughter Wisdom” once said, "Feeling grateful or appreciative of someone or something in your life actually attracts more of the things that you appreciate and value into your life."

Isn’t that so true! If you are a student of the laws which govern the universe and which affect every aspect of your life, you are well aware of the power of the Law of Attraction, so ably presented in the movie The Secret. And according to Wallace Wattles, in his book, The Science Of Getting Rich, gratitude is one of the key essentials in remaining connected to the Source from which all things come.

My personal experience has proven Christiane’s statement to be true. I think it should be self-evident, even to those not familiar with the Law of Attraction.

I Have A New Life!

I have a new life! And I owe it to quite a few people.

It all started a few years ago when I read a book my partner of almost fifty years had left lying around. Its title, "The Power of Intention" roused my curiosity. "Hmm, I thought, just another self-improvement book." But as I read the cover description I had the distinct impression that it was more than that. My curiosity got the better of me and, although I had many other things that needed doing, I plunked myself down in my favourite chair and started reading it. By the time I had reached the end of Chapter Six I had "learned" so much that I felt I needed to know more. Through the Internet I discovered a series of "You Can Do It" conferences, sponsored by Hay House Publishing. One was to be held in Toronto, so I eagerly signed up. That’s where I met the author, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer. He was the start of it all!

Through that conference I discovered the book, "Ask And It Is Given" by Esther and Jerry Hicks. Again, by the time I had finished the first section I had re-discovered a lot of what I had already known, according to Abraham, and wanted, no needed, to know more.

It was about that same time a friend loaned me her copy of Dr. Amit Goswami’s book, "The Self-Aware Universe", sub-titled "How Consciousness Creates The Material World". What an eye-opener it was, leading me further into exploration of particle physics and the world of quantum physics. That led to John Maddox’s book, "What Remains To Be Discovered". Now I knew that there was much more to this earthly life than I could ever have imagined. I was on a roll.

One day, shortly thereafter, while wandering through the video store, looking for a light-hearted movie I found "What The [Bleep] Do We Know?". The title tickled my fancy, so I rented it for the evening’s entertainment. It turned out not to be light-hearted at all! It was profound. And I was quite surprised to see none other than Dr. Amit Goswami in it, along with a great many other quantum physicists, scientists, psychologists, psychiatrists and philosophers!

All this occurred over a period of two years, and by this time my ideas about life in general, about my religion and my beliefs, had been turned on end. I was seeing things with an entirely new perspective. I knew I was on the right path, but I also knew that there was a lot more to learn. I knew I had barely scratched the surface.

Then it all started to happen in quick time. On a recommendation from a friend we purchased a copy of the DVD movie "The Secret", produced in part by Rhonda Byrne. It literally blew my mind! I watched it twice! The second time I saw things I hadn’t noticed with the first viewing. Since then I watch it about once a month, and I am still seeing something new each time. That prompted me to buy a second copy, which I eagerly lend to friends who have not seen it. Almost every one of them has since purchased their own copy!

It’s funny how, sometimes, fate seems to play its hand at just the right time. In a philosophical mood one evening I entered the word "life" into the Google search bar on my computer to see what it would bring up. The search turned up 1,020,000,000 entries in less that half a second! I narrowed my search by adding "abundant" but by accident I forgot to leave a space between the two words! To my surprise, that reduced the list to six, one of which was "The Life Abundant - The Secret Science of Getting Rich". Now that was just too interesting to ignore. The Secret Science of Getting Rich??? Really! Well, that I just had to see. So, I clicked on it.

That took me to the web site, http://lifeabundant.ca/, owned by Elizabeth Perrin. And that was where I met Bob Proctor, Dr. Michael Beckwith and Jack Canfield for the second time. They were described as "Teachers from ‘The Secret’". So I signed up for the seven free lessons offered there. After all, what did I have to lose? They were free, right? And they were eye-opening!

I knew I just couldn’t leave it there. I knew that the message of "The Secret", namely that the "Law Of Attraction" is constantly at work throughout the universe, was just the tip of the iceberg. I learned that although "The Secret" had made me aware of that "law", it didn’t begin to touch on how to use it! The seven free lessons was a start. That led to "The Briefcase", a complete seminar package, produced by Bob Proctor and his LifeSuccess company, and based on Wallace D. Wattles’ book, "The Science of Getting Rich", which was published over one hundred years ago.

Through Elizabeth Perrin’s web site, "The Life Abundant", I got the package. I have been studying it daily ever since. And, I am beginning to incorporate its lessons within my daily life. The difference is absolutely amazing!

Yes, I have a new life, and I owe it all to these people: Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, Esther and Jerry Hicks, Dr. Amit Goswami, John Maddox, Rhonda Byrne, Bob Proctor, and Elizabeth Perrin. I will never be able to thank them enough.

What do I really want?

Orison Swett Marden, Author and the Founder of Success Magazine, once said, "We lift ourselves by our thought. If you want to enlarge your life, you must first enlarge your thought of it and of yourself. Hold the ideal of yourself as you long to be, always everywhere."

Wallace Wattles, in his book, The Science of Getting Rich, suggests that one needs to have a clear and precise mental picture of what it is you want, and to keep it constantly in your mind. Once you know exactly what it is you want, by keeping it in the forefront of your mind you are able to focus clearly on it, sending the right message to the universe through the power of the Law of Attraction.

For me, and I think that for most people, defining so clearly what it is I want is a very difficult thing. It requires a great deal of concentrated thought. Then another problem arises. As I try to concentrate on what it is I really want, the thought that it really isn’t possible suddenly flashes, even if ever so briefly, thorough my consciousness. And I am sure that that negative thought goes out to the universe just as surely as does the thought that gave birth to it! I understand that conflicting messages to the universe result in nothing happening. The Law of Attraction demands clarity in order to work. I guess that this is where faith comes in, faith in knowing that what you really want is already being moved towards you.

So I think I am going to follow Napoleon Hill’s advice, (Think And Grow Rich), and write down what it is I want, and read it aloud twice every day, once in the morning and once in the evening. I know that in order to grow in all areas of my life I need to become larger than my present place. And, I know that doesn’t mean I need to eat more.

Living as Opposed to Existing

Author Michael E. Gerber, (The E-Myth Revisited), once said, "The difference between great people and everyone else is that great people create their lives actively, while everyone else is created by their lives, passively waiting to see where life takes them next. The difference between the two is the difference between living fully and just existing."

It seems to me that almost everyone tends to live their life reacting to their environment; to what they think they see and hear. They go along with the crowd. They really don’t think. And their life seems quite hum drum to me.

Now I shouldn’t criticise, for that is exactly the way I went through the greatest portion of my life. It wasn’t until just recently that I "wised up". It was through reading such books as "The Self-Aware Universe" by Amit Goswami and "The Power of Intention" by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, that I discovered situations and things are not necessarily what they seem. They just "are". It’s what I make of them that counts. And I have learned that the way I look at things changes the way things look. Documentaries such as "What The [Bleep] Do We Know" and "The Secret" were real blessings for me.

Now I do my best to create my life as I want it to be. I no longer worry about "what the neighbours might think", (according to Bob Proctor they don't!), or how good or bad something might appear to be. By daily study and by exercising my thinking mind I am becoming more and more aware of the universal laws which govern everything. And I am so happy and grateful that, at the age of 72, I am growing intellectually and spiritually. I am finding the world a marvellous and exciting place, and I am rejoicing in my life.

Live Largely!

TV Personality, Producer and Author, Oprah Winfrey, once said, "The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate."

I just love Oprah! Although I don't catch all of her programs, I do watch a lot. The topics she picks are so insightful and so educational. It's amazing what one can learn from them; from the people she features.

When you praise and celebrate your life you are sending good vibrations to the Universe, and according to the universal Law of Attraction, the Universe responds in like kind. Life expands, and you expand. You become "larger than your space" and you grow. You move upwards in all areas of your life.

So, dear reader, do take Oprah's advice. Live largely and celebrate with praise and thanks for what you have. More will come your way. It is "the law".

Self-confidence

Rosalynn Carter, Former American First Lady of the United States, once said, “ If you doubt you can accomplish something, then you can't accomplish it. You have to have confidence in your ability, and then be tough enough to follow through."

One thing for which I have to thank my Mother is that, from my earliest memories, she led me to believe I could do anything I set my mind to. To this day, at 72, I still feel that way. Many times I have been faced with a situation which required action, the likes of which I had never encountered before. Still, I tackled it, knowing that if anyone else could do it, so could I. I never met failure! Yes, I sometimes had to re-work things, and sometimes it took many attempts before I got it right. But in the end I always succeeded!

Thanks, Mom, wherever you are, for giving me that self-confidence to succeed.

Your loving daughter.
